MINERAL COUNTY, Colo. (KREX) - A 23-year-old semi-truck driver died after his vehicle went off the side of Wolf Creek Pass on Monday morning.

Colorado State Patrol responded to the crash around 8:21 a.m. on Highway 160, 17 miles north of Pagosa Springs. According to CSP, the driver of a 2020 Freightliner that was hauling a trailer with canned drinks was traveling southbound when the vehicle struck the barrier wall on the right side of the road and bounced off.

The semi went through the guardrail on the left side of the roadway down an embankment, CSP stated. The cab and trailer were destroyed as they rolled down the mountain.

The driver, who is from New York, was not immediately found among the large amount of debris on the mountain. He was later found deceased and was confirmed to have
