ALTO, Texas (KLTV) - The Alto City Council is set to convene for an emergency meeting Monday to discuss water pumps they say are not functioning properly, posing an imminent threat to the public’s health.

In a release, the city said the city’s primary water pumps are not performing to standards required by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.

This means there is a risk that residents and ‘critical facilities’ could lose water services, creating an “imminent threat to public health and safety,” the city announcement said.

The release noted immediate action was needed to allow for emergency repairs to be made and performance levels restored.
