EAST LANSING – It took a while for Tom Izzo’s new-look Michigan State basketball team to get going.
Maybe it was the nerves of a season-opener in front of the home crowd. Maybe it was getting used to each other. Maybe it was learning just how much different things are in Izzo’s program when the lights go on and the stage gets bigger and brighter.
Colgate gave the Spartans everything they wanted for 27 minutes, tying the game twice early in the second half. And it awoke the Spartans and their veterans.
