MACON, Ga. — A man has been arrested and brought back to the Bibb County jail, but now on murder charges, according to a release from the Bibb County Sheriff's Office.

Michael Burney, 24, was initially arrested on July 10, 2025 and charged with aggravated assault for a shooting that happened on July 4th .

On Thursday, Oct. 30, Contrell Dixon, 24, died from the injuries he suffered in that shooting . Dontavis Jackson, 19, was arrested for murder the same day.

The sheriff's office said that, on Monday, just before 11 a.m., they arrested Burney and transported him to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center in connection with Dixon's murder.

Both Jackson and Burney are currently at the Bibb County jail with murder charges. Both are being held without bond.
