WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — Warner Robins is taking a major step toward building a long-awaited Vietnam Veterans Memorial . Back in January, the city hosted a land tribute at the site off Watson Boulevard and Vietnam Veterans Memorial Parkway.

On Tuesday, the city council approved a design contract to get the project moving.

Tuesday night marked a moment years in the making after Warner Robins City Council voted to move forward with the design of its first Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

“It became a priority to make this happen,” said William Carey, a member of the Veterans Issues Board.

For veterans like Carey, tonight’s decision marks more than just a city vote.
