After the overhaul of the Pitt men’s basketball roster in the offseason, there was no telling how it would shape up in the season opener against Youngstown State. Sure, coach Jeff Capel added some pieces he was optimistic would add major contributions, but it wasn’t until Monday evening that the vision was revealed.
The Panthers didn’t have a pretty performance by any stretch of the imagination, however, they shook off the dust and came together for a 74-59 win against the Penguins at Petersen Events Center.
“It's great to get a win in our first game,” Capel said. “That's a really good team that we beat, a team that's going to have a chance to win their league. …It was a really good defensive performance, especially the last 30 minutes of the game. Obviously, we have work to do. We know
