ANN ARBOR — Michigan delivered a lights-out performance in Monday’s season opener — literally.

The Wolverines set a program record for points in a first half in a 121-78 win over Oakland at Crisler Center. They even scored a basket despite the lights shutting off during the shot attempt.

Michigan’s revamped roster exceeded its high expectations, torching the nets all night. Michigan scored 69 points in the first half, shot 64 percent from the field, made 19 3-pointers and committed just eight turnovers despite a fast-paced attack.

Morez Johnson Jr. finished with a career-high 24 points in 20 minutes, making 10 of 12 shots. Seven of the eight Wolverines who played significant minutes reached double figures scoring. The one who didn’t, starting point guard Elliot Cadeau, had 12 assists. F
