OWOSSO, Mich. (WILX) - On this day in 1948, polls said Thomas Dewey would win the presidency.
The Owosso-native was favored to beat Harry Truman, with even the Chicago Tribune printing the infamous “Dewey Defeats Truman” headline.
But by the next morning, it was clear Truman was the real victor in a stunning upset.
