LAS VEGAS — Florida basketball opened the season with a 93-87 loss to Arizona.
The reigning national champions had their chances to tie the game in the final minute of the matchup on Monday, Nov. 3, but failed to knock down their most critical shots.
"For us to be the best that we can be, we have to win the battle of the boards," Florida coach Todd Golden said on the postgame radio show. "I thought we were really loose with the ball in the second half. We have good ball=control guards and we have bigs that can handle it. In a game like this, when you are playing a team that has the potential to be a second or third weekend team, you can’t have nine turnovers in the second half.
