WASHINGTON — After more than a week, Anacostia High School students will be allowed to return back to their home school.
On Monday, ANC Tom Donohue confirmed students will return to their classrooms on Tuesday. On Oct. 27, classes were dismissed early due to a sewage leak from work that DC Water had been doing over the weekend in the neighborhood. The leak backed up into the school, impacting classrooms and the cafeteria.
The following day, school was cancelled for students. By Wednesday, school officials partnered with Kramer Middle School so students wouldn't miss any more days of school.
During a community meeting with Ward 8 councilmember Trayon White, DC Water, ANC Donohue, and community members, they announced that the school will reopen on time on Tuesday.
