Marshall overcame 29 fouls and 26 turnovers with a strong closing run to defeat Massachusetts, 78-72, Monday night in the Sun Belt-Mid-American Challenge at the Mullins Center in Amherst, Mass.
“Great win. It wasn’t pretty,” Thundering Herd coach Corny Jackson said. “But you have to find a way on the road. Twenty-six turnovers is a whole lot for us. They had a lot to do with that. They’re aggressive. They’s strong. They deny passes. I was just happy that our guys were able to close it out.”
Marshall’s lineup features many new faces. Veteran Wyatt Fricks led the way with 16 points, 14 coming in the second half. Wilson Dubinsky totaled 12 points to go with nine rebounds. Caleb Hollenbeck also scored 12 and Noah Otshudi 10.
Marshall enjoyed a 40-28 edge in rebounds agains
