OXFORD, Ohio — Old Dominion men’s basketball couldn’t hold on to a strong first-half lead Monday night, falling 87-72 to Miami (Ohio) in the MAC-Sun Belt Challenge at Millet Hall in Oxford, Ohio.
The Monarchs (0-1) led by as many as 14 points in the opening half, but foul trouble and cold shooting after the break allowed the RedHawks (1-0) to take control and pull away late.
ODU came out firing, jumping ahead 8-0 behind a three-pointer from Scottie Hubbard, a layup by Caelum Swanton-Rodger, and another triple from Jared Turner. The Monarchs’ lead ballooned to 30-17 midway through the first half after a jumper from KC Shaw.
