Elon Musk has once again found himself at the centre of controversy, this time for deliberately misspelling New York mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani’s name while endorsing his rival, former Governor Andrew Cuomo. The Tesla CEO’s remark came just a day before the city heads to the polls and it has prompted widespread criticism for what many called a “racist" dig.

Zohran is contesting as the Democratic nominee for the mayor position. He is running against Independent candidate and former Governor Andrew Cuomo and Republican Curtis Sliwa.

Musk’s post started a heated debate across social media where several users including journalists and public figures called out the Tesla co-founder for mocking Zohran’s name.
