PINE RIVER — Pine River-Backus teachers had a difficult choice in choosing from 17 nominated peers for the annual Teacher of the Year recognition.

In the end, they found themselves deadlocked with a tie between Lisa Toft and Steph Dinnel. So they chose both.

The decision was announced Oct. 31 in the cafeteria with the teachers' peers in attendance.

The nominating document read:

"Mrs. Toft is always adapting her lessons to her students. She goes above and beyond to make sure her students have the supports they need. The time and care she puts into her work is apparent and admirable.

"I nominate Lisa Toft for Teacher of the Year. Nobody invests more of their time into the students of PRB than Lisa. She exemplifies what a professional looks like in the classroom and is an awesome collea
