SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — It's not only important to win games early in non-conference play, it's important to win by a lot to help with a team's NCAA Tournament metrics. Syracuse did both in its regular season debut, blowing out Binghamton 85-47. Donnie Freeman led the way with 20 points. Five players were in double figures for the Orange, including Tyler Betsey, who dropped in 10 points. William Kyle III had 16 points, including seven dunks. Kiyan Anthony, the highly-touted freshman, scored 15 in his first official game at Syracuse. Naithan George finished with 14 points, eight assists, and five steals.
The only negative was that J.J. Starling left early in the first half with an apparent lower-body injury. No official update has yet been given about his status. Next up for the Orange
