LAS VEGAS ( FOX5 ) — A new exhibit opened at the Clark County Government Center, showcasing stories of individuals who helped Jewish refugees during the Holocaust.

The installation, called “The Choices of Man Through the Lens of the Holocaust,” was unveiled at a reception celebrating its debut. The Nevada Center for Humanity’s Nevada Holocaust Museum curated the display.

“Most of the people that were rescuers and upstanders were ordinary people, oftentimes peasant farmers, who took food off their own plates,” said Heidi Straus, president of the organization. “During wartime, rations and a bounty on their head if they were caught by neighbors and still hid Jews in the floorboards or behind a false wall or in the barn,” she added.
