A person was shot after a man approached a vehicle on Scruggs Street and demanded money, says Chattanooga police.

At 11:00pm on Monday, November 3, police received reports of a person shot.

Police say the victim was picked up by someone he knew when an unknown man approached the vehicle.

The suspect demanded money from the victim and then shot him, according to the report.

Officers say the suspect and the driver of the victim both fled the scene before police arrived.

The shooting victim is a 37-year-old man. Police say his injuries are not life-threatening. However, he was interviewed by police in a hospital.

The Chattanooga Police Department is still investigating.
