The Emporia City Commission plans to accept a $750,000 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) grant for redevelopment and improvements to the Debauge Family Sports Complex, during its regular Wednesday meeting.

The City Commission originally applied for $1.5 million in CDBG grant funds in August, for the overall $4.5 million Debauge Complex project. $1.5 million will be funded from the Emporia Recreation Commission, Stormont Vail has donated $1.5 million, and $750,000 will come from the CDBG grant.

According to the agenda packet, the remaining $750,000 of the project might come from additional grant funds, other available funds, or savings in “synergies and cooperative ventures” with Stormont Vail. The project is projected to create an additional turf field, a new concession stand, new
