RALEIGH, N.C. — The Broadband Recovery Program is granting $50 million to help service providers rebuild and repair broadband internet infrastructure destroyed by Hurricane Helene in western North Carolina, Gov. Josh Stein announced.

Stein said reliable internet service is vital to western North Carolinians.

“With these investments, western North Carolinians can stay connected and more easily get back on their feet – whether seeking resources, applying for a job online, starting a business, or going to school," Stein said.

Connecting North Carolinians to the internet has been a project for Stein all year . In June, he announced $58 million to complete broadband projects in 26 counties, including in the Charlotte area. In August, Stein signed the legislation that funds the Broadband Reco
