ALTOONA, Pa. (WTAJ) -- The Cambria County Suicide Prevention Task Force (CCSPTF), along with the Blair County Suicide Prevention Task Force, is coming together to host a local event where survivors of suicide loss can come together for connection.

International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day, or Survivor Day, was first created in 1999 after Senator Harry Reid introduced a resolution to the US Senate, leading to the designation by Congress honoring the day for those affected by suicide to come together for support.

The event, held on Saturday, Nov. 22 this year, has been sponsored by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) since its inception, and the organization holds countless events throughout the country and worldwide.
