EAST PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) -- The East Peoria Police Department has announced the results of a 10-day enforcement campaign.

Running from Friday, Oct. 24, to Monday, Nov. 3, the crackdown resulted in one impaired driving arrest and 14 citations for seatbelt and child safety seat violations, said East Peoria Police Department Sgt. Benjamin Middleton.

Officers issued two citations for speeding and 27 other citations. They also made four traffic arrests and two criminal arrests. They also took 2.25 grams of heroin and 12.95 grams of methamphetamine, he said.

Middleton said law enforcement agencies across Illinois took part in the statewide effort to save lives by removing impaired drivers from the roadways and making sure more people were properly buckled up.
