LONG SAULT — The Township of South Stormont has hired its next chief administrative officer (CAO).
The township announced on Oct. 30 that council had approved hiring David Barrick as deputy CAO , effective Nov. 3. He will work in that position, with CAO Debi Lucas, until Lucas’ planned retirement on Dec. 31. Barrick will then be appointed CAO on Jan. 1.

Barrick has been working most recently as CAO for the Municipality of Thames Centre, a mostly rural municipality of about 13,000 residents in Middlesex County, in southwestern Ontario east of London. Prior to holding this role, Barrick had been interim CAO and held other leadership roles for a conservation authority, CAO of the City of Brampton, and an elected official in the Niagara Region City of Port Colborne.
