I’m typically someone who has dry skin year-round, but it is much more apparent during the fall and winter. It is as though as soon as the leaves begin falling, so does my skin’s receptivity to my typical skincare regimen. I always blamed it on the cooler temps and accepted it as an inevitable side effect of the weather that I had no choice but to tolerate. However, I never really understood why the seasonal change exacerbated the issue.
The season in question is upon us, which means so is the worsening dry skin. To gain some clarity on the shift, I connected with board-certified dermatologist Dr. Renée Beach, who explained why dry skin worsens in the fall, along with tips and products that could help.
