STATESVILLE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- A quick stop for a lottery ticket turned into a six-figure win for one Statesville man.
Hoang Ho tried his luck on a $20 Ruby Red 7’s scratch-off and ended up winning a $100,000 prize. He bought the ticket at Beaver’s General Store on Mocksville Highway.
Ho claimed his winnings at the lottery headquarters on Monday. After state and federal taxes, he took home $71,756.
The Ruby Red 7’s game, which launched in August, offers big prizes, including three top prizes worth $2 million and nine prizes worth $100,000. As of now, two of the $2 million prizes and four of the $100,000 prizes are still waiting to be claimed.
