SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Springfield residents voted on contested races for the city council and the school committee.
Four of the five incumbent councilors were re-elected Tuesday, including Jose Delgado, Brian Santaniello, Kateri Walsh, and Tracye Whitfield, but Sean Curran lost his seat to Justin Hurst. There are also three challengers on the ballot, including former City Councilor Justin Hurst, who ran unsuccessfully for mayor in 2023, as well as Nicole Coakley and Juan Latorre, who have both run for the council in the past.
There were contested races held for ward councilor in wards 1, 4, 5, 6, and 7. There were also contested races for the school committee at-large and in districts 2, 3, and 4.
