Six Flags Great America, the popular Six Flags theme park in suburban Gurnee, has officially closed for the 2025 season.
"Our last day of the 2025 Season was this past Sunday, November 2," Six Flags told NBC Chicago Tuesday. "We are looking forward to welcoming guests back in the spring and celebrating our 50th Anniversary in 2026. Lots ahead to look forward to!"
The comments come as another Six Flags park, with a similar name but in another part of the country, closes its gates for good.
Six Flags America , in Bowie, Maryland, officially shut down Sunday, Nov. 2 after 50 years. "We will always cherish the memories made together," the park said in a Facebook post.
Six Flags president and CEO Richard A. Zimmerman announced the plans for the closure earlier this year.
