LEXINGTON, S.C. (WIS) - Officials said a man is now one of the first arrests made under a new South Carolina law targeting AI-generated child sexual abuse material.
The South Carolina Attorney General’s Office said 25-year-old Adam Asad Kelton, of Gaston, is charged with two counts of possession of a visual depiction or representation of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct, activity, or nudity.
Each count is punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
The attorney general’s office said Kelton was arrested on Oct. 30, with investigators saying he had files of child sexual abuse material generated by artificial intelligence.
