Six Flags is shutting down an amusement park after 50 years of operation.
Six Flags America, located in Bowie, Maryland, officially closed its doors to guests for the final time last weekend after decades of operation.
“Thank you, Six Flags America fans, for 50 years of family fun. We will always cherish the memories made together,” the park wrote on its Facebook page .
Its final day of operation was Sunday, Nov. 2.
Six Flags Entertainment Corporation announced in May that it would close Six Flags America and Hurricane Harbor after the 2025 season. The park employed about 70 full-time associates.
“As part of our comprehensive review of our park portfolio, we have determined that Six Flags America and Hurricane Harbor are not a strategic fit with the company’s long-term growth plan,”
