ATLANTA (WRBL) — A zebra and an ostrich will be future members of the mixed-species habitat in Zoo Atlanta's African Savanna.
Zoo Atlanta recently welcomed 2-year-old Neighomi, a female plains zebra from a wildlife safari in Winston, Oregon and 11-month-old Olive, a female ostrich from the Georgia Ostrich Farm.
Neighomi and Olive are not visible to members and guests yet. The zoo says animal introductions, both within a species and among others in a mixed-species habitat, are gradual processes and are driven by individual animals’ comfort levels in meeting new individuals in new surroundings.
