MADISON (WKOW) — Dane County Humane Society (DCHS) is calling on the community to support an emergency pet food drive.

The goal is to assist families struggling to care for their pets due to a pause in SNAP benefits.

“It’s a challenging time, but no one should ever have to choose between feeding themselves and feeding their pets,” said Lisa Bernard, DCHS development and communications supervisor. “We want to keep people and their pets together, but we can’t do it alone. We need our community’s help."

The drive will accept unopened cat and dog food, both wet and dry, and cat litter from Nov. 5 through Nov. 7, between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Donations can be dropped off at DCHS’s barn at 5132 Voges Road in Madison. Monetary donations are also welcome through their online portal.
