MINOT, N.D. (KMOT) - The city of Minot is revising its criminal and traffic ordinances to align with state law.

Officers will now be allowed to ask for your ID if they suspect you’re under 21 in licensed alcohol establishments, and refusal to do so counts as an infraction.

Several motor vehicle fines were adjusted, and new measures were added for illegally passing school buses or fleeing from police.

During Monday’s City Council meeting, member Scott Samuelson made an amendment to keep fines between $300 and $600 for driving without liability insurance.

Under the proposed ordinance changes, the fines would have dropped to $150 for the first offense and $300 for the second offense.
