SURREY, N.D. (KMOT) - UPDATE (11/4/2025 at 4:40 p.m.): A house fire on Tuesday afternoon in northeast Surrey prompted a response from several area agencies.

The state fire marshal is now investigating.

Firefighters were dispatched around noon to a home in the 200 block of 3rd Street Northeast.

Crews from Minot Rural, Surrey and Burlington responded, along with Ward County Sheriff’s Office and Trinity Ambulance.

As of 3:30 p.m., Minot Rural said the fire is out, but the Surrey Fire Department is still on scene to monitor.

Fire Chief Rex Weltikol said no one was hurt, but three dogs were trapped inside the home did not survive.

Bystanders said they didn’t think anyone was home when the fire started.
