WATFORD CITY, N.D. (KMOT) - A fire at a duplex in Watford City on Tuesday displaced multiple families.

Watford City Police and Fire arrived at 701 2nd Avenue SE just before 1 p.m., where ammunition inside the complex began going off due to the heat.

Firefighters brought the flames under control within an hour and rescued two dogs trapped in the basement.

No residents were home at the time, and no one was hurt.

The duplex has significant damage, and residents are getting help with temporary housing.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
