WASHINGTON — The man now known as the “DC Sandwich Guy,” after a video of him hurling a sub sandwich at a federal agent went viral, stood trial Tuesday on charges of assaulting a federal officer.

Sean Dunn wore a medical mask over the lower part of his face and covered the top of his face with his hands as he left the federal courthouse Tuesday, shielding himself from cameras.

Dunn is accused of throwing a sandwich at U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agent Greg Larimer outside a club on 14th Street on Aug. 10. The incident, captured on video, became a symbol to some of Washington’s resistance to President Donald Trump sending federal law enforcement to fight crime in the District.
