SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WTVO) — Illinois is appealing the denial of federal aid after storms in July and August.

Residents of Boone County are required to take additional steps to secure assistance following the state's appeal.

Damage assessments were initially conducted in September after the August storm caused power outages and felled trees.

Officials are currently performing additional assessments, which are set to continue through Friday.

Residents and business owners are urged to submit photographs and reports of damage via an online survey.

The state has indicated that updated photographs could enhance the chances of receiving aid.
