TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— The Vigo County commissioners held their weekly public meeting and Terre Haute Mayor Brandon Sakbun was there to discuss warming centers in Terre Haute.

Mayor Sakbun approached the commissioners to bring to them a new plan for the warming centers in Terre Haute to help address the gap between the number of spaces available compared to the number of homeless and needy population that could need a warming center during the winter months.

This plan would involve funds from both the city and county matching each other to help increase funding to be used for employees, spaces, days of operations, and other needs the warming centers might need. There would also be different criteria for why a warming center could be open, including if there is more than one inch
