Robinson, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV)— 150 high school students from 13 different high schools in Illinois left the classroom to test their science, technology, engineering and math skills at the third annual Robinson High School Engineering Contest.
Besides testing their skills, students got to learn what area colleges have to offer in STEM during the competitions.
Students got to build and test catapults, toothpick bridges, gravity-powered cars, and small flying machines that were powered by rubber bands. There were 11 colleges represented at the STEM College Fair that was also taking place during this contest. Mallory Mosbey is a senior a Robinson High School and she discussed what made her decide to participate in the contest for the first time.
