TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— 34 days marks a tie for the longest government shutdown in U.S. history and people are really starting to feel the effects of it, including those who are on SNAP benefits.
The benefits ran out at the end of last month, but two judges ruled in favor of using contingency funds to pay a portion of the benefits for November, but people still need help. That's why organizations like 14th and Chestnut are continuing their food pantry to try and help ease the burden people are experiencing during these troubling times.
The pantry is open every Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to noon. Families can come once a month and get the food they need to help while they are being affected by SNAP benefits are now only being paid out in a portion of what people normally get. They norm
