TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— The future of the Vigo County School Corporation front and center Tuesday night.
During a Sunshine meeting of the Vigo County Council, the council discussed the establishment of a possible oversight board that would help oversee funding and improvements of Vigo County schools. The school corporation also hoped the County Council would consider helping to pay for upgrades at local schools.
However, in October, members voted 4-3 to approve an ordinance that prevents the county from creating an oversight board. Councilman Steve Ellis says at this time there is too big of a risk and too many unknowns about this oversight board.
Ellis is also concerned about possible litigation, but he says there is still a chance for the board to be established.
