PARIS, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) — Horizon Health in Paris, Illinois, renovated its ER.

This transformation was completed to not only accommodate more patients but also make the space more comfortable. Nurses and physicians are now in a centralized location, that way they can communicate and access patients more quickly.

Horizon Health's previous ER had ten beds; now there are 13 spaces. A Behavioral Health room was also added. This room has a garage door method. It's so nurses can quickly push everything behind that garage door and lock it to ensure that the patient is out of harm's way.

The ER also has a mural painted by local artist Emily Bennett in the new pediatric space.
