OPELOUSAS, la. (KLFY) -- The Opelousas public library is set to undergo its first major renovation in decades, thanks to a $1.5 million grant secured for the project.

State Representative Dustin Miller announced that the bidding process is currently open for the comprehensive remodel, which aims to address long-standing issues in the library's infrastructure.

"We have a library that probably hadn't had any updating or renovating in over 30 plus years," said State Representative Dustin Miller. "So, we're excited. We were able to work with the state and get a grant to do a $1.5 million renovation."

The renovation will include replacing broken and cracked glass, installing new flooring, and upgrading computers and elevators.
