"I have a real gold badge, one of my old badges that I'm going to present to him," Chief Molloy told the crowd.

Police officers, K-9s, firefighters, medics and game wardens all lined up to meet the new chief who had a day off from school.

William Weir, 8, showed up to inspect the force with his mom, dad and brother Luke before changing into his custom-made uniform ahead of the official swearing in ceremony.

His dad is a firefighter and his mom is a nurse, so serving others is in his blood.
