BARBOURSVILLE, W.Va. (WSAZ) - The government shutdown has taken a toll on not just federal employees who have gone weeks without a paycheck, but also those living in our area who rely on government assistance to make ends meet.
Now, a few public transit authorities in our area are offering free bus fares to help people get around.
One of those companies is Tri-River Transit who shared that all bus routes would be free starting this past Monday.
Tri-River covers Lincoln, Wayne, Boone, Logan and Mason counties.
“They were all surprised. They all appreciated it,” said Bill Sayer, a bus driver for Tri-River Transit.
Tri-River Transit isn’t the only one. In fact, multiple other bus providers in our area are doing the same or a similar thing.
