CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - It hasn’t been a typical week at Step-by-Step West Virginia in Charleston, as CEO Michael Farmer has been shopping for more food due to an increase in families in need.

“We didn’t think it would be this drastic immediately,” Farmer said.

West Virginia Gov. Patrick Morrisey is now calling the effort Operation Feeding Families, to make sure food is on every table in the Mountain State despite the suspension of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits, or SNAP.
