ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — With some residents facing delays in federal SNAP benefits and new work requirements, local organizations and Monroe County officials are offering resources to help people access food.
Local pizzeria Pizza Wizard has started a “pay it forward” program that allows residents experiencing food insecurity to receive a free cheese pizza.
The initiative does not require proof of need or paperwork. Customers who are able to contribute can purchase $5 pizza cards to help keep the program going.
Meanwhile, Monroe County Executive Adam Bello announced that information on the SNAP funding delay and the new work requirements is available on the Monroe County website.
The site includes flyers, posters, and social media graphics, as well as a screening tool to help residents
