PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — A student at A-Venture Academy in Providence was taken into custody last week after reportedly hitting a teacher, 12 News has learned.

Kristy dosReis, a spokesperson for the Providence Police Department, confirmed officers were called to the Branch Avenue school on Oct. 30 to investigate reports of a possible assault.

dosReis said it appears the juvenile student became disruptive in a classroom and refused to leave when asked to do so by school staff.

The student then hit the teacher while being escorted out of the classroom, she added.

The teacher was not injured and the unidentified student has since been charged with disorderly conduct.
