FARGO — Tired of your leftover Halloween candy sitting in your house? You can donate it to a local nonprofit whose goal is to make sure every child can celebrate their birthday.

The Birthday Bash Project, formerly known as Box of Balloons, donates birthday boxes to children in need.

Candy, along with toys, party favors and decorations, are included in every box.

They’re partnering with Hagen Dental in Casselton, N.D., which will give you $3 for every pound of candy you donate.

The nonprofit’s founder says they give between 32 and 35 boxes every month, and with SNAP benefits in limbo, she expects there to be an even greater need.
