VENLO, N.D. — During its heyday, just a handful of families called Venlo, North Dakota, home.

It was a railroad town in rural Ransom County, just northeast of Lisbon.

Now, there's nobody left. Not even a rundown building. But people in Europe know all about North Dakota's little ghost town, thanks to a documentary and a man who lives in Holland and works as a butcher in Venlo, Holland, in the Netherlands.

Toine Schreinemachers is now on his second trip to North Dakota. Looking for more information on the town of Venlo, N.D. After all, he is from Venlo, too.

"It is a city of about 100,00 people. On the one side is the river and on the other side is the German border," Schreinemachers said.

Even as a teenager, he was fascinated that his hometown in Europe had a sister city in North Dako
