LUBBOCK, Texas--The Lubbock Police Department will be issuing refunds to Lubbock citizens following the repeal of the recently updated alarm ordinance.

On October 28, 2025, the Lubbock City Council rescinded Ordinance No 205-00111, reverting the alarm ordinance to the previous regulations stated in Ordinance No 2001-00087. This means an alarm permit is required only after a specific address has had three false alarms, or one false robbery alarm within a calendar year.

The LPD will mail citizens who paid the updated permit fee of $50 a letter with either a voided check, a notice to the refund of a credit card or a check from the city for any cash payment made. Voided checks and credit card transaction lett
