Pitt football’s five-week surge has landed it a spot in the latest College Football Playoff rankings, it was announced tonight. Pat Narduzzi’s club, fresh off a 35-20 win at Stanford, was awarded the No. 24 spot in this week’s rankings. It marks their first appearance in the poll since Week 11 of the 2024 season, exactly one year ago.
The Panthers have spent 10 weeks ranked by the College Football Playoff committee since Narduzzi assumed head coaching duties in 2014, peaking at No. 13 in the final rankings of the 2021 season. After winning its first seven games in 2024, they climbed to as high as No. 18 in both the AP poll and College Football rankings, but subsequently lost six games in a row and were dropped from the rankings all together.
